Send links to Notion

Connect Notion once from your dashboard, and every link you make becomes a row in a Notion database, including links you make through the API or with Claude.

Connect Notion

  1. Sign in to NudgeHost, open your dashboard and scroll to Connected apps.
  2. Beside Notion, click Connect Notion.
  3. On Notion's page, pick the pages NudgeHost may use. Pick the page you want the links database in, or a database you already have.
  4. Notion sends you back to the dashboard, which asks where your links should go.

If Notion offers NudgeHost's template on its page and you take it, Notion copies a page holding an empty NudgeHost links database into your workspace. NudgeHost starts adding links to it straight away, with no question on the way back.

It works on every NudgeHost plan, including Free.

Choose where links go

ChoiceWhat happens
Make a new databaseNudgeHost adds a database called NudgeHost links to the page you choose, with the seven columns below.
Use a database I sharedNudgeHost adds any of its seven columns the database lacks and leaves your other columns alone. If one of its column names is taken by a column of another type, it adds its own with (NudgeHost) after the name.
Also add the links I already haveTicked at first. Every link that still opens goes in too, oldest first. A link that already has a row in that database isn't added again.

The lists show only pages and databases you picked on Notion's page. Notion can take a minute to list a page or database you've just picked, so if a list is empty, click Try again. If NudgeHost can see no pages at all, click Choose pages in Notion to go back to Notion's page, pick one, and come back to the same question. To use another page later, add the NudgeHost connection to it in Notion, then click Change database in Connected apps.

Changing the database sends new links to the new one. Rows already in the old database stay there. Connecting a different Notion workspace starts again with no database and the count of links added at zero.

What each row holds

ColumnWhat it holds
NameThe file's name, or the site's name. Rename it in Notion if you like; NudgeHost never changes it afterwards.
LinkThe link's address, the same one you share.
TypePDF, Website, Video, Markdown and so on.
Size (MB)The file's size in megabytes, as a number, so the column sorts and sums.
CreatedWhen the link was made.
EndsWhen the link ends, or empty for a link that doesn't end.
StatusActive, Ended or Deleted.

NudgeHost never writes a password or whether a link has one, the file itself, how many times it was opened, or who opened it.

New rows usually appear within a few seconds. When Notion asks NudgeHost to slow down, the rest wait and go within five minutes.

When you replace, delete or end the link

If you replace the file and keep the link, its row shows the new type and size. The address stays the same.

If you delete a link, its row's Status changes to Deleted. The row stays in Notion until you delete it there.

When a link reaches its end date, its Status changes to Ended within a day. A new end date in File settings reaches the Ends column within minutes.

Turn automatic adding off

Under Notion in Connected apps, the Add new links automatically switch is on after you choose a database. Off means links you make from then on stay out of Notion, and links still waiting to go are dropped. Rows already in Notion stay, and NudgeHost keeps them current when their links change.

Add a link made before you connected

  1. Open the link's own page from Your files.
  2. Under Notion, click Add to Notion.

The same button adds a link you made while the switch was off. Once a link is in Notion, its page shows when it was added and an Open button that opens its row.

Plans

Sending links to Notion works the same on every plan. When a link has an end date, from your plan or one you set, its row's Ends column shows it.

A row in Notion isn't a new link, so it doesn't count toward your plan's limit.

What NudgeHost can do in Notion

  • It can read, update and insert content only in the pages and databases you picked on Notion's page, and in the pages inside them.
  • It makes one database when you choose Make a new database, adds one row for each link, and adds missing columns to a database you chose.
  • After that, it changes only its own columns on its own rows. It never edits or deletes your other pages, rows or columns.
  • It never reads your Notion members or their email addresses.
  • Notion's access keys stay on NudgeHost's servers, encrypted. Your browser never holds them.

When something stops working

Connected apps showsWhat it means and what to do
Access endedNotion stopped accepting NudgeHost's access, usually because the connection was removed in Notion. New links aren't added. Click Reconnect. Reconnecting the same workspace keeps the switch and the count of links added, and your database too if NudgeHost can still reach it.
Database not foundNudgeHost can't reach the database any more. It was deleted, moved to the trash, or unshared from the connection. Click Pick a database to choose another, or Choose pages in Notion to pick a page in Notion first. Links that were waiting, and any you make while it shows Database not found, go to the database you choose.
Notion refused a changeNotion turned down a write, for example because the connection's access changed. Check it in Notion, then click Pick a database.

NudgeHost notices a removed connection the next time it writes a row, or overnight if you make no links. It sends no email about it.

Disconnect Notion

  1. In Connected apps, click Disconnect beside Notion.
  2. Click Disconnect again to confirm.

NudgeHost deletes its access straight away and asks Notion to revoke it. Rows already in your database stay there, and their links keep opening while the links last.

If you close your account, NudgeHost disconnects Notion as one of the steps.
