It reports the size before and after, which matters because the saving depends entirely on the image.

Two limits are worth knowing before you rely on it. The browser can only write lossy WebP, so flat-colour images (screenshots, logos, line art) often encode smaller as PNG, and the converter says so plainly when the result comes out larger rather than dressing it up as a saving. Colour profiles are also discarded during the conversion, so a colour-managed image can shift. For lossless WebP or profile-preserving output, a desktop encoder is still the right tool.

Once the file is lighter, it usually needs somewhere to live. If the image belongs to a site you are publishing, you can publish an HTML page and the smaller assets load noticeably faster. iPhone photos arrive as HEIC, which browsers cannot decode at all, so those have to become JPGs on the device before this converter can read them.
