Set an end date on a link

Open the link's File settings, pick a day under Expiry date and click Save, and the link stops working when that day ends in your time zone.

Set the date

  1. Open your dashboard and click the settings button in the link's row.
  2. Under Expiry date, pick the last day the link should work.
  3. Click Save. The dashboard shows the date in the link's row.

The link works until the end of that day in your own time zone. Every plan can set one.

What visitors see after it

A page that says "This link has expired" and "The person who shared this file set it to expire. Ask them to send a fresh link." The file stays in your account.

Change or clear the date

Open File settings again and pick a new day, or clear the field to leave the link with no end date ("Leave blank for no expiry"). Click Save. A link that has expired opens again as soon as you move the date on or clear it.

On the free plan

A free link already ends 14 days after upload, and the field says "On the free plan it ends on" with that day. You can pick an earlier day but not a later one, and clearing the field puts the 14-day end back. A paid plan lets you leave the date blank.

What happens on the fourteenth day is set out in what happens when a free link ends. The glossary covers expiring share links in general terms, and the troubleshooting guide explains links that stopped early.
