Report a link
- Open the link and click Report at the top right of the page, beside Download.
- Your email app opens a message to NudgeHost with the subject "Report abuse:" and the link's name, and the page's address in the body.
- Answer "What is wrong with this page?" and send it.
A website at a nudgehost.site address or the owner's own domain has no Report button. Email support@nudgehost.com with its address instead.
What breaks the rules
- Malware, viruses, ransomware or other harmful code.
- Illegal content, including copyright infringement and child sexual abuse material.
- Pages that imitate another person or organisation, such as a fake sign-in page.
- Web proxies, unblockers or game sites built to get around school or workplace filters.
- Spam that links to files on NudgeHost.
The terms of service list the rest.
Copyright
To have a copy of your work taken down, send a notice to support@nudgehost.com with the subject "DMCA Takedown". The six things a notice needs, including the exact link and a signature, are listed on the DMCA page. NudgeHost aims to remove infringing material within 48 hours of a valid notice, on business days.
What happens to a link that's taken down
- Visitors see "Nothing lives at this link." The page doesn't say why.
- Its address is never given to anyone else, so a copy of the link that's still being passed around can't lead to someone else's file.
- The file is kept for 30 days as evidence, then deleted.
- Its owner sees it marked Removed on their dashboard, as the guide for a link that was taken down sets out.
NudgeHost also checks HTML pages when they're uploaded, and takes down the clearest phishing pages, which ask for a password and send what's typed to an outside service, straight away. For people who were sent a link, why a link won't open explains the other pages they may see. If you share a file now, the same rules apply to it.
