What each page means
| What the page says | What happened |
|---|---|
| "This link has ended" | The link was on the free plan, which keeps links for 14 days. Ask the person who shared it to send it again |
| "This link has expired" | The person who shared it set a date for it to stop. Ask them for a fresh link |
| "Nothing lives at this link." | There's no file at this address. Check it for a typo, then ask the sender. The link may have been deleted or taken down, and the page doesn't say which |
| "We cannot check this address right now" | NudgeHost couldn't look the address up. Nothing has been lost, so try again in a minute |
| "Download this file" | The file is a type that doesn't open in the browser, or is too large to show. Download it and open it on your device |
| "Your browser can't play this video inline" | Your browser doesn't play this format. Download it and it opens in your usual player |
A website at a nudgehost.site address, or at the owner's own domain, shows one of two pages instead.
| What the page says | What happened |
|---|---|
| "This page isn't here." | The site exists, but there's no page at that address. Check it for a typo, or click Go to the site's home page |
| "Nothing lives at this address." | There's no site at this address. It may have been moved or taken down, and the page doesn't say which. Ask the person who sent it |
What each file type shows is set out in a separate guide.
A password prompt
- "This file is protected" means the owner added a password. Ask them for it, type it and click Open file.
- "That password is not right. Please try again." means it didn't match. Passwords are case-sensitive, so check the capitals.
- "Too many attempts. Please wait a while and try again." appears after 10 wrong tries in 15 minutes. Wait 15 minutes.
- A correct password keeps the file open in that browser for 12 hours.
You don't need an account
Any browser opens a NudgeHost link, with no app and no sign-in. If you'd like to send a file of your own, share a file now.
If the page looks wrong
If a link you were sent asks for a password you weren't expecting, imitates a bank or a sign-in page, or looks harmful in another way, don't type anything into it. Report the link with the Report button at the top of the page.
