What you see on your dashboard
The link's row says "Removed" where it said "Active", and the link shows as plain text, since it no longer opens. This notice sits under it.
NudgeHost took this link down, so it no longer opens for anyone. Its name won't be given to anyone else. If you think this is a mistake, contact support and include the link.
The row keeps one button, Contact support, which opens an email to NudgeHost with the link's name in the subject. Copy, QR code, settings and delete are gone, and the link's own page shows the same notice.
Removed links are left out of the API's list of files and out of the list_links tool.
What visitors see
- A file link shows "Nothing lives at this link." The page doesn't say the link was taken down.
- A ZIP site, at its nudgehost.site address or on your own domain, shows "Nothing lives at this address."
For people who were sent the link, why a link won't open explains each page.
What happens next
- The file and its earlier versions are kept for 30 days as evidence, then deleted along with the link.
- The link's name is never given to anyone else, even after that.
- Until it's deleted, the link still counts toward the free plan's limit on active links.
- It can't be replaced with a new file.
Why NudgeHost takes links down
A link is taken down when it breaks the terms of service, after a report or after NudgeHost's own checks. The list of what breaks the rules is in the guide to reporting a link.
NudgeHost checks HTML pages when they're uploaded, and takes down the clearest phishing pages, which ask for a password and send what's typed to an outside service, straight away.
Neither the dashboard nor the notice says which rule a link broke.
If you think it's a mistake
- Click Contact support in the link's row on your dashboard.
- Say why the link should be back up, and send the email.
If NudgeHost agrees, the link works again at the same address. That can happen only within the 30 days, while the file is kept.
