Where it works
The NudgeHost node is a community node that n8n hasn't verified, so it installs on self-hosted n8n only. Unverified community nodes aren't available on n8n Cloud.
Installing it needs an Owner or Admin account on your n8n instance. This guide describes version 0.1.2, which was tested on n8n 2.45.4.
Install the node
- In n8n, go to Settings, then Community Nodes, and select Install.
- In Enter npm package name, type
n8n-nodes-nudgehost. - Tick "I understand the risks of installing unverified code from a public source" and select Install.
When a newer version is published, an Update button appears beside the node in the Community Nodes list.
Add your API key
- Sign in at nudgehost.com and open your dashboard. A free account works.
- Scroll to API keys. Under Create a key, type a name such as "n8n" and click Create key.
- Copy the key from the "Copy your new key now" box. It starts with
nh_sk_and is shown only once. - In n8n, create a credential and choose NudgeHost API. You can also create one from the credential list inside the NudgeHost node.
- Paste the key into API Key and save. n8n tests the credential by listing one file from your account.
Every request counts toward the key's rate limit, which the REST API and the MCP server share. On the free plan that's 20 requests a minute, and an account can hold 2 keys.
What the node can do
| Operation | What it does |
|---|---|
| Upload | Sends the file in a binary field of the input item, which is data for most nodes, and outputs the finished file with its link in url. A ZIP with an index.html inside becomes a site at its own address. A ZIP without one, or over 100MB, stays a download. |
| Publish Text | Publishes text you type or map into the node, under the File Name you set. A name ending in .html or .htm opens as a web page, .md or .markdown as formatted text, and .csv or .json in a table or JSON viewer. Any other name, such as .txt, gets a download page. |
| Get Many | Lists the files on your account, newest first. Return All fetches every page, or Limit sets how many. Simplify, on by default, keeps ten fields per file. |
| Delete | Deletes a file by its ID, from Upload or Get Many, so its link stops working. The link name is never given to anyone else. |
Upload and Publish Text take a Link Name under Options. If that name is taken or not allowed, NudgeHost picks a random one, so read the link from the node's output.
Get Many and Delete also work as tools for an n8n AI agent. Upload isn't useful as one, because a tool call carries no file.
Limits
- Files the node uploads count toward your plan the same as files you upload yourself.
- On the free plan an account holds 3 active links, each live for 14 days, with files up to 25MB. The Pro plan has no limit on links and takes files up to 250MB.
- The node can't replace a file at the same link, because the API can't yet. Upload the new version as a new file, or replace it from your dashboard to keep the link.
- A password can be set from the dashboard only.
The node calls the same REST API that the v1 API docs sets out. If an upload fails, our troubleshooting guide quotes each error message and its fix.
