Two review sites, two different stories
Capterra rates WeTransfer 4.8 out of 5 across 2,956 reviews. Reviewers there describe sending files to clients without setting up a shared folder or changing permissions. Trustpilot sits at 3.4 across 1,127 reviews, and 55% of them are one star.
The one-star reviews are mostly about money. Of the 40 newest one-star reviews on Trustpilot, read on 17 September 2026, 26 describe a charge the reviewer did not expect or a subscription they could not cancel.

Transfers gone after 3 days
Two 2026 Trustpilot reviewers name the window. One moved to a service with "a download window of 30 days, instead of WeTransfer's ridiculous 3-day cut-off", and another missed the 3-day window on files sent to them.
WeTransfer's reply, 25 July 2024: To a 2024 reviewer who lost files when the window was shortened without warning, they wrote that they would "do our best to have better communication about the changes in the future."

Charges reviewers did not expect
A July 2026 reviewer received photos from a friend once, then found a "euro 9,99 weekly subscription I never knowingly agreed to." In September another counted £189.81 in charges since April, against the £105 they expected to pay.

Uploads that stall partway
A June 2026 reviewer waited three hours while a large video upload reached 83%, fell back to 81% "and got stuck in an endless loop." Two 2-star reviews from 2024 and 2025 describe transfers stuck anywhere up to 99%, and at 77%.
Prices that rose at renewal
A 2025 reviewer paid £54 in November 2023 and £108 in November 2024, then was offered £210. Another went from €120 a year to €228. A September 2026 reviewer gives four stars, and would give five if the new owner "hadn't increased the subscription price so much".
