6 best WeTransfer alternatives in 2026, compared on the same terms

Mark Boreland
Updated 17 September 2026

Six hosts you can move your files to today, each measured on the same questions, with plan details read from every vendor's own pages.

Why people go looking for a WeTransfer alternative

  • A Free or Starter transfer stays online for up to 3 days.
  • Two 2026 Trustpilot reviewers name the window. One moved to a service with "a download window of 30 days, instead of WeTransfer's ridiculous 3-day cut-off", and another missed the 3-day window on files sent to them.
  • A July 2026 reviewer received photos from a friend once, then found a "euro 9,99 weekly subscription I never knowingly agreed to." In September another counted £189.81 in charges since April, against the £105 they expected to pay.
  • An August 2026 reviewer writes "I am trying to cancel and it is impossible." A June reviewer found no phone number and no answer to daily emails, and a July reviewer says cancelling took five steps and 30 minutes.
  • After a plan is cancelled, active transfers stay online for up to 28 days, then are permanently deleted.

The first and last lines were read on 16 September 2026 from the vendor's own pages, for our NudgeHost vs WeTransfer comparison. The three in between come from our WeTransfer reviews page, read 17 September 2026.

The list

Six places to move your files from WeTransfer

Ranked for sharing a file or a page. Each card names the job that host does best, what it costs, and what to watch for.

  1. 1. NudgeHost

    That's us, full disclosure

Best for a link that stays up after this week

A free account keeps 10 links live, each with no expiry unless you set one. Drop a file while signed out and it has a link straight away, with 3 links live at once for 7 days. A PDF, a Word file or a CSV opens in the browser at its own address, and an AI client can publish through the MCP server's four tools without leaving the conversation.

    Cost

    • Free, with 10 live links and no card
    • Pro at $12 a month, or $120 a year
    • Studio at $29 a month, or $290 a year

    Where it wins

    • A link that stays up after this week
    • To publish without making an account
    • A document that opens in the browser
    • An API or an MCP server on the free plan
    • The address on your own domain

    Watch-outs

    • Password protection starts on Pro
    • Custom domains start on Pro, with 1 custom domain

  2. 2. Tiiny.host

Best for collecting replies from the people you send it to

A static site host, aimed at deploying a built project rather than passing a document to somebody.

    Cost

    • $9/mo, or $5/mo billed annually

    Where it wins

    • More than one person signed in to the same account
    • The page to collect email addresses or replies from readers

    Watch-outs

NudgeHost is the better pick for:

    • A free plan you can actually work from
    • No visitor cap as a link takes off
    • To publish without making an account
    • Pages built for AI-generated output
    • API keys without a subscription first
    • Expiry and QR codes at no cost

Read on 1 September 2026 from the vendor's own pages, for our NudgeHost vs Tiiny.host comparison.

  3. 3. Static.app

Best for a 1GB file without paying for the top plan

Cheaper to start paying for. Starter is $6 a month, or $60 a year, which is $5 a month billed annually, and that annual rate is two months free.

    Cost

    • Starter at $6/mo, or $5/mo billed annually at $60 a year

    Where it wins

    • The cheapest way to start paying
    • A 1GB file without reaching the top plan
    • More than one person on the account

    Watch-outs

NudgeHost is the better pick for:

    • A link before you make an account
    • An API you can call on the free plan
    • Link expiry at no cost
    • Ten separate links rather than one website
    • To publish an AI-generated page in one call

Read on 5 September 2026 from the vendor's own pages, for our NudgeHost vs Static.app comparison.

  4. 4. Linkyhost

Best for putting a single PDF behind a link

A PDF-to-link tool with a clean interface, aimed at one document going to one recipient.

    Cost

    • $12/mo, or $5/mo billed annually

    Where it wins

    • To share a single PDF quickly
    • No monthly view cutoff on a paid plan
    • A free QR code

    Watch-outs

NudgeHost is the better pick for:

    • A free plan that survives the first upload
    • API keys without a top-tier subscription
    • A ZIP site without upgrading first
    • To publish without making an account
    • Link expiry at no cost

  5. 5. Netlify Drop

Best when the thing you upload needs building

A drag-and-drop publish that has worked without an account for years, taking a folder, a ZIP or a single HTML file.

    Cost

    • $0 forever with a hard limit of 300 credits a month, and one member

    Where it wins

    • A framework project built for you
    • A custom domain with SSL at no cost
    • Deploy previews before a change goes live
    • A coding agent run from the host's dashboard

    Watch-outs

NudgeHost is the better pick for:

    • A link that lasts longer than an hour unclaimed
    • No credit budget behind a published link
    • Published links that cannot be paused by usage
    • One call that takes a file and returns an address

Read on 5 September 2026 from the vendor's own pages, for our NudgeHost vs Netlify Drop comparison.

  6. 6. Cloudflare Pages

Best for a built site that has to serve heavy traffic

Direct Upload publishes prebuilt assets with no Git, by Wrangler or by dragging onto the dashboard.

    Cost

    • No price on our comparison

    Where it wins

    • A built site served at a project address
    • 100 custom domains at no cost
    • Unlimited preview deployments
    • A static site that serves any amount of traffic free

    Watch-outs

NudgeHost is the better pick for:

    • A link to a PDF, a CSV or a video
    • A published address before an account exists
    • One API call that returns a live address

Hosts measure a free plan in different units, so each cell states the limit that host publishes. A NudgeHost cell without the coral text is a row our NudgeHost vs WeTransfer comparison gives to WeTransfer.

How this list was put together, and who wrote it

NudgeHost publishes this page and sells one of the six hosts on it. That is why every host is measured on the same criteria, and why every entry says where that host is the better pick. Mark Boreland wrote it.

Every competitor figure comes from that vendor's own pages, carried across from our head-to-head comparisons, and each card shows the date those pages were read. If a figure here has gone out of date, write to support@nudgehost.com.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers on how long links last, free plans and cancelling. The cards above carry the detail.

  • What is the best WeTransfer alternative?

NudgeHost, for links that need to stay up. A free account keeps 10 links live with no expiry unless you set one, where on WeTransfer a Free or Starter transfer stays online for up to 3 days. If you want a framework project built for you, Netlify Drop is the better pick.

  • Is there a free WeTransfer alternative?

Yes. The NudgeHost Free plan holds 10 live links with no expiry unless you set one, asks for no card, and carries 2 API keys at 20 requests a minute for scripts and AI clients.

  • Can I share a file without making an account?

Yes, on NudgeHost. You can upload a file of up to 25MB without an account and hold 3 links at once, each live for 7 days. Signing up keeps them at the same addresses.

  • What happens to WeTransfer files when you cancel?

Active transfers stay online for up to 28 days, then are permanently deleted. On NudgeHost, the account moves to the free plan and nothing is deleted, though uploads pause while it holds 10 links or more. A custom domain stops serving and is released after 30 days.

  • How should I compare these hosts?

Start with how long the link has to last. A link people will open next month suits a host that keeps it up, and a project that needs building suits a static host. Then check three things: whether it publishes before you have an account, what the free plan holds, and what happens to your links if you stop paying.
