What is a custom domain?

A custom domain replaces the host's address with one you own. On NudgeHost it applies to a zipped site, which lives at something like files.yourstudio.com instead of a nudgehost.site address, and it reads as part of your brand rather than a third party's. The site stays identical, and only the address changes. For a personal share that is cosmetic, but on anything client-facing the address shapes the impression you make.

Setup is a DNS task and takes little technical skill. You add a record at your registrar pointing a subdomain at NudgeHost, since a root domain can't take that record, and once it resolves, the site uses your address and the certificate is issued automatically. You can connect a domain you own from the dashboard. The feature comes with the Pro and Studio tiers. It applies to a site you upload as a ZIP, not to a page you upload as an HTML file on its own. The payoff is trust. A recruiter or client who sees your own domain on a link reads it as more established than a generic URL, and your links stop advertising someone else's brand. The certificate keeps the connection secure on your domain just as it does on the default address.
