Host a Gemini Canvas app as a live URL.

NudgeHost puts a Gemini Canvas app on a link that opens in any browser, free for a page of up to 25MB, and 3 pages can go live without an account. Google's own share link opens only on gemini.google.com and not in the Gemini mobile app.

What they see

Your Canvas app, open in any browser.

Zipped, the app goes live at its own nudgehost.site address and opens like any website, on a phone or a laptop, with no Gemini around it. Pasted, it opens under a slim NudgeHost header instead. A page uploaded without an account carries a small NudgeHost bar along the bottom until you claim it with a free account.

  • Opens outside gemini.google.com
  • Browser storage works on the ZIP route
  • No Google account needed to open it

How it works

From Canvas to a live link in three steps.

  1. Copy the code from Canvas

Click Code at the top right of the Canvas panel and copy all of it. For a page that needs no browser storage, open the Paste HTML tab on the uploader and press Publish.

  2. Or save it and zip it

Save the code as index.html, zip it and drop the ZIP on the uploader, and the app runs as a site where storage works. Signed out, a file can be up to 25MB, and you can keep 3 links live at a time.

  3. Send the link

Paste it into a chat, a class page or an email. Whoever opens it needs no Google account and no NudgeHost one.

After you send it

Ask Gemini for changes, keep the link.

Most of this is on the free plan. The detail behind each visit comes with Pro, and custom domains with Pro and Studio.

Every account plan

Upload each version over the last

The address, the view count and any password or end date stay the same, so everyone with the link sees the newest version.

Counts freeDetails on Pro

See how often it's opened

Free accounts see how many times the app was opened. Pro adds the time and country of each visit, with a CSV export.

Pro and Studio

Put it on your own domain

Connect an address on a domain you own, 1 on Pro or 5 on Studio, and the zipped app serves there. Its nudgehost.site address stays out of search.

Why host a Canvas app yourself.

Google's help page for Canvas describes no download for an app. The Code view at the top right of the Canvas panel shows the app's code, and that code is what you host. Save it in a file named index.html, which is the file a website opens on first.

There are two ways up. You can paste the code straight into the uploader, and the page opens in a sandboxed frame where browser storage and alert() pop-ups are blocked. Or zip index.html and upload the ZIP, and the app runs as a zipped site at its own nudgehost.site address, with storage working.

Ask Gemini for a new version, copy the code again and upload it over the old one, and the link stays the same. A free account keeps the page online with no end date, while a page made signed out stays up for 7 days.

Frequently asked questions

  • Why not just send the Gemini share link?

Google's help page says shared links open only on gemini.google.com, not in the Gemini mobile app, and that anyone with the public link can view and edit data associated with the app. A NudgeHost link opens in any browser and runs the copy you uploaded.

  • Can I download the code from Canvas?

Google's help page describes no download for apps. Click Code at the top right of the Canvas panel to see the code, then copy it from there. Export to Colab covers Python code, and Export to Docs is for text.

  • Will the AI features still work?

If the app uses Gemini-powered features, data shared between users or data saved across devices, those come from Gemini, so check them after uploading.

  • Should I paste the code or upload a ZIP?

Paste is quickest and suits a page that needs no browser storage. If the app remembers scores, settings or entries between visits, save the code as index.html, zip it and upload the ZIP, which runs as a site where storage works.

  • Does the Gemini share link still work?

Yes. NudgeHost doesn't touch it. The NudgeHost link is a separate copy that you control.

  • Can I update the page without changing the URL?

Yes. Copy the new code from Canvas, upload it over the old one from your dashboard, and the address stays the same.

  • Do the people I send it to need a Google account?

No. The link is an ordinary web address, so anyone can open the app in a browser without signing in anywhere.

  • Can I put the app on my own domain?

Only as a ZIP site, on Pro (1 domain) or Studio (5 domains). A single pasted page can't serve on a custom domain.

  • Is there a size limit?

Yes. On the free plan a page or a ZIP can be up to 25MB. Pro raises that to 250MB and Studio to 1GB.

  • Can I share it without making an account?

Yes. The app goes live straight away and lasts 7 days, and you can hold 3 links at once. Until you claim it, the page shows a small NudgeHost bar along the bottom.

  • What happens to a signed-out upload when I make an account?

It moves across to the account and stops expiring, as long as you're under the free plan's 10 links. The NudgeHost bar goes at the same time.

  • Does NudgeHost change my code?

No. The code is stored exactly as uploaded. On a page uploaded without an account, the NudgeHost bar shows along the bottom until you claim it.

  • Can I password-protect the app?

Yes, on Pro and Studio. Visitors enter the password on a NudgeHost page before the app opens. A password-protected app doesn't serve on a custom domain, so pick one or the other.

  • Can I choose the app's address?

Yes, including without an account. Name the link in the upload card first. A ZIP goes live at that name on nudgehost.site, and a pasted page at nudgehost.com followed by the name.

  • What happens when I delete the app?

It stops serving straight away, and the address returns a not-found error.

  • Can I put the app on a worksheet or a slide?

Yes. Every link on an account comes with a QR code, so a printed sheet or a slide can open the app from a phone camera.

  • Does the app work on a phone?

It runs the code Gemini wrote, so a layout that adapts to small screens in the Canvas preview adapts the same way on a phone.

  • Can I give the link an end date?

Yes, on any account plan. Set a date in the link's settings and the app stops serving after it.

  • Can I host several Canvas apps?

Yes. A free account holds 10 live links at once, and Pro and Studio have no cap on how many you keep live.

  • Is there a limit on how many people can open it?

No. There's no visitor cap on any plan, so an app a whole class opens keeps working.
