Key points
- Paste up to 2 MB of text and get a link straight away.
- Without an account a paste lasts 7 days, and a free account keeps it with no end date.
- The reader sees the text as you pasted it, with Copy text and Download buttons.
- A paste made in an account also has a raw address, the link plus /raw.
- Passwords come with Pro and Studio.
Text pasted into a chat or an email often gets reflowed, trimmed or split across several messages, and a long log or a prompt with careful spacing rarely arrives intact. A link carries the text exactly as you pasted it, line breaks and indentation included, and the reader copies it back out with one button. Code, HTML and scripts in a paste show as text and never run, so a snippet you send for review can't do anything in the reader's browser.
The same link works as an online clipboard for moving text between your own devices. Paste on your laptop, then open the link on your phone. Signed out, the card that hands you the link also shows a QR code, so pointing the phone's camera at the screen opens the text with nothing to type. In an account, every link has its QR code in your dashboard.
Signed out, a paste stays live for 7 days, with up to 3 live at once. The free plan keeps pastes live with no end date, up to 10 links at once. It also gives each paste a raw address, the link plus /raw, which returns the bare text to a script, a terminal or another tool. Replace a paste with an updated .txt from your dashboard and it keeps the same link and raw address.
Anyone with the link can read a paste. To keep it to the people you send it to, lock the link with a password on Pro or Studio, and the raw address only opens once the password has been entered on the link. Each account paste counts its opens, so you can view opens on a shared link from your dashboard, and Pro adds the time and country of each one. Reads of the raw address aren't counted.
AI assistants connected to NudgeHost over MCP can make the same kind of paste with the share_text tool, which the API reference describes, so a summary or a generated config file comes back as a link. A paste stays plain text. For syntax highlighting, encryption in the browser or comments under the text, our Pastebin alternatives roundup names the tool for each.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to share text?
No. Paste the text, press Publish and copy the link. A paste made without an account lasts 7 days, up to 3 can be live at once, and each network can publish up to 10 an hour.
How much text can I paste?
Up to 2 MB, counted in UTF-8 bytes. Plain English uses one byte a character, so that's about two million characters. Emoji and many non-Latin scripts use more bytes a character. The counter under the box shows the characters and the size as you type.
Can I move text from my computer to my phone?
Yes. Publish the text on your computer and open the link on your phone. Signed out, scan the QR code on the card that shows your link. In an account, open the link's QR code from your dashboard.
What does the person I send it to see?
The text as you pasted it, with line breaks kept, on a page with Copy text, Download and Report buttons. They don't need an account.
Will HTML or code in my paste run?
No. Everything in a paste shows as text, including tags and scripts.
Can I get the raw text at its own address?
Yes, for a paste made while signed in. Add /raw to the link and it returns the plain text as UTF-8. Pastes made without an account don't have a raw address.
Can I change a paste after sharing it?
Yes, in an account. Replace it with an updated .txt from your dashboard and the link, the text page and the raw address stay the same. A paste made without an account can't be replaced.
Can I password-protect a paste?
Yes, on Pro and Studio. The password covers both the text page and the raw address.
Can I see whether someone read it?
A paste made in an account counts its opens. Pro adds the time and country of each open, with a CSV export. Reads of the raw address aren't counted.
Does it format Markdown or highlight code?
No. A paste shows as plain text, so Markdown keeps its symbols. For a formatted page, use the Paste HTML tab in the same box.
How long does a paste last on a free account?
Until you delete it. A free account keeps 10 links live at once, and pastes count toward the same 10 as files.
Can an AI assistant share text for me?
Yes. An assistant connected to NudgeHost over MCP can call share_text, and the paste gets the same text page and raw address as one you make by hand.
