What they see
Your WebM plays right on the page.
Paste the link into a chat or an email. The preview card shows the file name, and one tap opens a page where the video plays in the browser's own player, with a download button above it.
- A preview card with the file name
- The browser's own video player
- A download button for the original .webm
How it works
From WebM to link in three steps.
Drop the WebM
Drag the .webm onto the uploader. A file up to 25MB goes up on the free plan or without an account.
Copy the link
The link works as soon as the upload finishes.
Send it anywhere
Paste it into a chat, an email or a bug report. The video plays in the browser, with nothing to install.
After you send it
The link keeps working for you.
Replacing a video and open counts work on the free plan. Passwords and the detail behind each open come with Pro and Studio.
Send a new take, keep the link
Upload the new recording over the old one. The address, the view count and any password or end date stay the same.
See how often it's opened
Free accounts see how many times the link was opened. Pro and Studio add the time and country of each open.
Add a password or an end date
Give the link a date and it stops working after it. On Pro and Studio, a password keeps the video away from anyone who doesn't have it.

WebM and links
Why share a WebM as a link.
WebM is an open video format made for the web. MDN lists WebM with VP8 or VP9 video as playable in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. NudgeHost reads the file's header and sends it with the MIME type video/webm, which tells the browser to use its video player. The steps are the same as when you put an MP4 online.
The link page asks only for the video's details until someone presses play, so a long recording doesn't download up front. Nothing is converted, so the video plays exactly as you uploaded it. If a browser can't decode the file, the page shows a download card instead of a broken player.
A free account takes WebM files up to 25MB, which suits a short clip. Pro takes up to 250MB and Studio up to 1GB, and for a long recording the steps to send a long video by link cover which plan fits. You can upload a WebM without an account, and that link lasts 7 days. On Pro and Studio you can put a password on the link before you send it.

Frequently asked questions
Does a WebM play in Safari?
MDN lists Safari among the browsers that play WebM with VP8 or VP9 video. If a browser can't decode a file, the page shows a download card instead.
Is the video converted?
No. The link plays the .webm exactly as you uploaded it, and the Download button saves the original file.
How big can the video be?
25MB on the free plan and without an account, 250MB on Pro and 1GB on Studio.
Do viewers need an account?
No. The link opens in any browser, on a phone or a computer, with no sign-in and nothing to install.
Can I swap in a new version after sending the link?
Yes, on any account plan. Upload the new file over the old one and the same link plays it.
Can I see how many times it was watched?
The count tracks opens of the page rather than plays. Free accounts see the total, and Pro and Studio add the time and country of each open.
