Host a Replit front end as a live URL.

NudgeHost hosts the front end of a Replit project free, up to 25MB and 200 files a site with 10 sites live at once, and no visitor cap on any plan. It serves files only, so a Replit app that runs its own server can't go up whole.

What they see

Your Replit front end, live outside the workspace.

The built front end goes live at its own nudgehost.site address. Send the link and it opens like any website, with no Replit workspace and no NudgeHost header around it. An app uploaded without an account carries a small NudgeHost bar along the bottom until you claim it with a free account.

  • Its own nudgehost.site address
  • Paths inside the app load on a direct visit
  • No Replit account needed to open it

How it works

From Replit to a live link in three steps.

  1. Download, build and drop

Choose Download as zip from the three-dot menu above Replit's file tree, run npm install and npm run build on your computer, then zip the folder the build writes and drag it onto the uploader. Signed out, the ZIP can be up to 25MB, and you can keep 3 links live at a time.

  2. Copy the app's address

NudgeHost unpacks the build and the app goes live at its own address. Name the link in the upload card first and it reads like fieldnotes.nudgehost.site.

  3. Send it to anyone

Paste it into a chat, an email or a class forum. Whoever opens it needs no Replit account and no NudgeHost one.

After you send it

Keep building in Replit, keep the link.

Most of this is on the free plan. The detail behind each visit comes with Pro, and custom domains with Pro and Studio.

Every account plan

Upload each build over the last

The address, the view count and any password or end date stay the same, so everyone with the link sees the latest build.

Counts freeDetails on Pro

See how often it's visited

Free accounts see how many times the app was visited. Pro adds the time and country of each visit, with a CSV export.

Pro and Studio

Put it on your own domain

Connect an address on a domain you own, such as www.yourname.com, 1 on Pro or 5 on Studio. The app there can be found in Google like any other website, while its nudgehost.site address stays out of search.

Front ends and servers

What a Replit project needs to run here.

Replit's docs say apps built with Agent are full-stack and need a backend server, and that its own static deployments don't support them. The same limit applies here. NudgeHost serves static sites, so a project fits when everything it does happens in the browser, such as a plain HTML page, a game or a Vite front end.

Replit's Download as zip gives you the whole project, source included. Build the front end first, then zip the folder the build writes and upload that. The steps match hosting a single page app with working routes, and paths inside the app load on a direct visit.

For an app with a back end, the front end can still live on NudgeHost while the server stays on a Replit deployment. Point the front end's requests at the server's address and allow the NudgeHost address in the server's CORS settings. On Replit's Starter plan a published app expires after 30 days, while the free plan here keeps 10 links live with no end date.

Frequently asked questions

  • Where is the export option in Replit?

Open the three-dot menu at the top of the file tree and choose Download as zip. If that fails on a large project, Replit's docs suggest running zip -r project.zip . in the Shell, then downloading project.zip from the file tree.

  • Can I host a Replit Agent app on NudgeHost?

Usually not whole. Replit's docs say Agent builds full-stack apps that need a backend server, and NudgeHost runs no server code. Host the built front end here and keep the server on Replit, or keep the whole app on a Replit deployment.

  • How does the cost compare with publishing on Replit?

Replit's static deployments are free to host and charge $0.05 per GB served. Autoscale starts at a $2 monthly base fee plus usage, and a Reserved VM starts at $15 a month. NudgeHost's free plan has no transfer charge and no visitor cap, and Pro is $12 a month.

  • Do I host the source or the built app?

The built app. Run npm install and npm run build, then zip the dist or build folder the build writes.

  • Why is the page blank after upload?

The ZIP holds the source. Build the project and upload the folder the build writes.

  • Do my Replit secrets come across?

No. Replit's docs say secrets aren't part of a copied project, and NudgeHost skips a .env file at upload. A key compiled into the front end can be read by anyone who opens the page, so keep private keys on the server.

  • Does my Replit deployment keep working?

Yes. The NudgeHost link is a separate address, so a deployment you already have on Replit keeps serving as before.

  • Can I update the app without changing the URL?

Yes. Build again, upload the new ZIP to the same NudgeHost link, and the URL stays the same.

  • Will client-side routes load on a direct visit?

Yes. Any path with no file extension that isn't in the ZIP serves index.html, so the app's router can show the right screen. A missing script or image still returns a 404.

  • Do I zip the dist folder or what's inside it?

Either. When every file sits inside one folder, NudgeHost strips that folder, so the app serves from the root and the folder name never shows up in its addresses.

  • Is there a size limit?

Yes. On the free plan, the ZIP and the unpacked app both have to fit in 25MB. On Pro and Studio the ZIP can be up to 100MB, and the app it unpacks into can grow to 250MB on Pro or 1GB on Studio. A site can also hold up to 200 files.

  • Are any ZIPs turned away?

Two kinds. A ZIP with another ZIP inside it has to be unpacked first, and a password-protected ZIP has to be saved without its password.

  • Can I share it without making an account?

Yes. The app goes live straight away and lasts 7 days, and you can hold 3 links at once. Until you claim it, every page shows a small NudgeHost bar along the bottom.

  • What happens to a signed-out upload when I make an account?

It moves across to the account and stops expiring, as long as you're under the free plan's 10 links. The NudgeHost bar goes at the same time.

  • Does NudgeHost change my files?

No. The files are stored exactly as uploaded. On an app uploaded without an account, the NudgeHost bar is added to each page as it's served, and it stops the moment you claim the app.

  • Can I password-protect the app?

Yes, on Pro and Studio. Visitors enter the password on a NudgeHost page, then the app opens at its nudgehost.site address. A password-protected app doesn't serve on a custom domain, so pick one or the other.

  • Will people see a new version straight away?

Yes. NudgeHost never caches the app's HTML, so the next page load serves the new build. Its other files are cached only in the visitor's own browser, for up to five minutes.

  • Can I choose the app's address?

Yes, including without an account. Name the link in the upload card before you drop the ZIP and the app lives at that name on nudgehost.site.

  • What shows when I paste the link into Slack?

Whatever the app's own title and preview tags say, because the link serves your HTML exactly as the build wrote it. Add a title and an og:image to index.html if you want a rich card.

  • What happens when I delete the app?

It stops serving straight away, every page and file with it, and the address returns a not-found error.

  • Can I put the app on a slide?

Yes. Every link on an account comes with a QR code, so a slide or a printed handout can open the app from a phone camera.

  • Does the app work on a phone?

It's served exactly as the build wrote it, so a layout that adapts to small screens in Replit's preview adapts the same way on a phone.

  • Can I give the link an end date?

Yes, on any account plan. Set a date in the link's settings and the app stops serving after it. Visitors to its nudgehost.site address see a page saying the link has expired.

  • Can I host several Replit projects?

Yes. A free account holds 10 live links at once, and Pro and Studio have no cap on how many you keep live.

  • What happens to my custom domain if I leave Pro?

The domain stops serving shortly after the plan ends, since only a paid plan can hold one. The app itself stays live at its nudgehost.site address.

  • Is there a limit on how many people can open it?

No. There's no visitor cap on any plan, so a front end that gets passed around keeps working.
