Share a Figma design as a PDF link.

Export the frames to PDF, drop the file here and send the link. The client opens a fixed copy of the design in the browser, with no Figma seat and no file permissions to sort out.

What they see

Your design opens as a PDF in the browser.

Paste the link into an email, a chat or a project channel. Apps that show link previews draw the PDF's first page, and one click opens the whole design with a Download button above it. Nobody needs a Figma account or a seat.

  • The first page as the link preview
  • The design as you exported it
  • No Figma account to open it

How it works

From Figma to a link in three steps.

  1. Export the PDF

In Figma Design, select the frames, click the plus in the Export section of the right sidebar, choose PDF and click Export. In Figma Slides, open the main menu and choose File, then Export slides to, then PDF.

  2. Upload it

Drop the PDF on the uploader. A file up to 25MB goes up on the free plan or without an account.

  3. Send the link

It opens in any browser, and the Download button hands over the PDF itself.

After you send it

One link through every round of feedback.

Replacing a file and open counts work on the free plan. Passwords and the detail behind each open come with Pro and Studio.

Every account plan

Send the next round on the same link

Export the revised frames and upload the PDF over the old one. The address, the view count and any password or end date stay the same.

Counts freeDetails on Pro

See whether the client opened it

Free accounts see how many times the link was opened. Pro and Studio add the time and country of each open, with a CSV export.

End dates freePasswords on Pro

Keep work under NDA private

On Pro and Studio, a password keeps the PDF closed to anyone without it. Any account can give the link an end date.

Exporting from Figma

What Figma's PDF export gives you.

Figma's help center describes the export. The NudgeHost column shows what happens once the PDF is uploaded.

Figma's help also says the Plus darker and Plus lighter blend modes aren't supported in a PDF export. On the Starter plan, someone viewing a shared presentation can open the source file from it.

Figma and PDFs

Why send a Figma design as a PDF.

A Figma link opens the file itself, and the file's share settings decide who gets in. A PDF is a fixed copy, which suits a sign-off, a pitch or a case study that should look the same next month. You can view a PDF in your browser first to check the pages came out in the right order, without uploading anything.

Figma Slides exports a whole deck to PDF from its main menu, and skipped slides stay out of the file. From there the steps to share a deck with a client apply. A case study exported this way can sit beside the rest of your work when you host your portfolio.

For work under NDA, the Pro plan lets you put a password on the link. Any account can set an end date, and replacing the PDF after a round of feedback keeps the link you already sent.

Frequently asked questions

  • Does the client need a Figma account?

No. The link opens a PDF in their browser, and NudgeHost asks them for nothing.

  • Why can't I edit the text in the PDF?

Figma exports text as glyphs. It stays selectable and copyable, but editing means going back to the Figma file.

  • Can I update the PDF after feedback?

Yes, on any account plan. Replace the file in your dashboard and the link you sent opens the new version.

  • Can I see whether the client opened it?

A free account shows how many times the link was opened. Pro and Studio add the time and country of each open.

  • How big can the PDF be?

25MB on the free plan and without an account, 250MB on Pro and 1GB on Studio. Figma exports PDFs at Medium quality unless you change it.

  • What does the link preview show?

In chat apps that show previews, the card shows the PDF's first page with the filename as its title.
